JERSEY CITY, N.J., April 3, 2020 – In a move supported by all members of the Chromium Cleanup Partnership, PPG is suspending operations at cleanup sites in Hudson County to prevent COVID-19 virus exposure risk for workers..

As a result, excavation activities at Dennis Collins Park in Bayonne will be stopped at the end of next week at the latest. In Jersey City, meanwhile, work at sites in the Garfield Avenue Area will be suspended when the back filling of an excavation conducted in Halladay Street near the intersection with Forrest Street is completed, which is scheduled for the end of next week.

Security guards, however, will remain in place 24 hours a day at Dennis Collins Park and the main Garfield Avenue Site during the work suspension.

PPG officials said they will re-evaluate conditions every two weeks to determine when work can resume. Meanwhile, the drafting and review of reports will continue as well as efforts to secure access agreements with property owners.
